Specialty Insurance For Contractors The Standard Markets Won't Touch.
Roofers, riggers, arborists, welders, crane operators, pesticide applicators, millwrights, demo crews, attenuator-truck operators, security installers — KIG places coverage for the trades that get declined, non-renewed, or surcharged everywhere else. General liability, workers comp, equipment, umbrella, builders risk, OCIP/wrap-ups. Hard-to-place welcome.

If you've ever been told "we don't write that class" by a captive agent — welcome to the world of specialty contractor insurance. Standard markets shy away from heights, heavy equipment, hot work, fall exposures, chemicals, and anything involving cranes, trees, or roofs. That's where KIG lives.
We work with surplus-lines carriers, specialty programs, and admitted markets that actually want trade business. We understand WC class codes 5403, 5057, 5022, 0042, 5474, 7228, and the dozens of other contractor codes that rate-up your premium when placed wrong. We know the ISO classifications, the additional insured requirements your GCs demand, and the per-project COIs that show up on Friday afternoon.
Whether you're a single-truck arborist, a 50-employee roofing crew, a millwright on a steel-mill turnaround, or a GC running a multi-prime OCIP — we'll match you to the right market.

Contractor Insurance FAQ.
I Got Non-Renewed By My Last Carrier. Can You Still Quote Me?
Yes. Non-renewal is the #1 reason contractors find us. We work with surplus and specialty carriers that underwrite hard accounts — including roofers, demo crews, and contractors with claim history. Send loss runs and we'll see what's possible.
What's The Minimum Liability Limit My GC Requires?
Most GCs require $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate on GL, plus $1M auto, plus $1M–$5M umbrella. Public works often demand $5M+. Send us the contract requirements and we'll match the limits exactly.
Do You Issue Certificates Same-Day?
Once a policy is bound, yes — same-day in most cases. We can also provide blanket additional-insured endorsements and waiver-of-subrogation language as required by your prime contracts.
Can You Audit My Workers Comp Class Codes?
Yes — and we recommend it annually. Misclassified employees on a roofer or carpenter code can cost you tens of thousands per year. We'll review your payroll splits and challenge bad audits.
What's An OCIP Or Wrap-Up Policy?
An Owner-Controlled (or Contractor-Controlled) Insurance Program is a single master policy that covers all enrolled subcontractors on a large project. Used to consolidate risk, control limits, and simplify claims on jobs over $50M.
Do You Write In All 50 States?
We are licensed in 40+ states and routinely place work nationwide via surplus lines. If you're operating multi-state, we can write you on a single program with state-specific endorsements.
